Where do I even start? I mean, really. This won’t be a normal yearly recap post because…pandemic. At any rate, I figured I’d still write a recap to try to reflect on good things that happened this year (insert nervous laughter).
I’m not fooling myself in thinking that 2021 will present some sort of immediate change because, ya know, the pandemic and all but I’m a little hopeful that later in the year things will seem “normal”. One can only hope.
OK, so 2020? Here goes nothing (literally).
2020 in review
JANUARY // Last year started off grand because John and I got a chance to sneak away for a few days and go to Mexico! It was so nice to get away and enjoy some sun and seriously not do anything for a week. Take me back.
We also got a chance to revisit Savannah. I was there for “work” but we made a weekend out of it. The nice thing about Savannah that even in January, the weather was very tolerable. Again, take me back. Honestly, I’d go anywhere right about now but that’s not what this post is about.
MARCH // The Chattery celebrated our 6th anniversary (omg). Our anniversary party was the last major event we hosted before shutting down. What a time. Jennifer and I worked really hard to get this space only to leave it right as we got settled. Spoiler alert: we haven’t hosted a class in there since March. If this tugs at your heartstrings, feel free to donate to our fundraising campaign (we’ll love you forever).
APRIL // Mason joined us in this nutty world! Her original due date was May 2 but she arrived about 5 early. Pandemic parenting has been a wild ride.
JULY // John turned 40 this month and yep, you guessed it, it wasn’t the party we were planning to have. We hosted a drive-by birthday shindig and even though it wasn’t the original plan, it was pretty fun to see our friends from a distance.
AUGUST // My turn to have a birthday! Same scenario as John but smaller. We sat on the porch while a couple of our friends hung out in our yard and I welcomed my 38th year.
DECEMBER // Our first family Christmas! It wasn’t how we imagined but we had a really good day. I’m looking forward to many more holidays as a family of three.
That’s it. That’s the recap. Here’s to hoping my 2021 recap is filled with a little more travel, recipes and visits to restaurants. Now onto the fun part…
What’s popular on EDF?
This year was unlike any other year on the blog. Usually, I like to see what posts from the outgoing year were the most popular but I didn’t really write a lot of new posts this year. So instead, I’m going to share what my overall top posts were (not necessarily written in 2020). Ready?
POPULAR POSTS: cold brew coffee cocktail (2017), John Legend’s chili (2016), grownup hamburger helper (2019), Glampfire cocktail (2017), cheeseburger tacos (2018), creole chicken pasta (2016), Is Silence Complicity? (2018), Hungry for More: sandwiches (2019).
