Posts like these are always changing but they’re fun to put together. There are restaurants in Chattanooga that will always be my go-to spots to grab a snack. As menus change and new restaurants open up, my list of favorite Chattanooga foods will always be everchanging. I thought it would be fun to round up some of my favorite Chattanooga foods (as of late).
It’s funny because as I was writing this, I kept thinking of more foods to add to the list. I regrouped and decided to use the criteria that mainly consisted of how often I consume the foods listed. At the end of this post, I even included a couple of honorable mentions.

Kale salad (Niedlov’s)
I’ve written about this salad before and will continue to do so as long as it’s on the menu. Niedlov’s recently updated their menu and lucky for us, the kale salad is still on it (as of summer 2024).
Burger (Main Street Meats)
Here’s an old post I wrote in 2016. My love affair with MSM has been going on for a long time. I love this burger because of pickles and gruyere – who doesn’t love gruyere? The burger pairs really well with an old fashioned too (they have one of my favorites in town). Maybe I should write a post on my favorite drinks/mocktails in Chattanooga. Stay tuned about that.
Chicken burrito (Taqueria Jalisco)
When this post was written, little did I know that just a few years later, The Chattery would move down the street from Taqueria. When all else fails, a chicken burrito from Taqueria Jalisco is where it’s at.
Noodle Stir Fry (Han-Mi)
My original plan was to include Han-Mi’s Korean Fried Chicken on this list but after ordering the noodle stir fry, it has definitely moved up several notches in my book. It’s spicy, flavorful and just a 10/10. Please try this.
Catfish & Grits (The Rosecomb)
It doesn’t get more Southern than this, right? The fried catfish and grits are delicious but the braised greens that accompany are top-tier. I think about this dish all the time. At the time of publishing, the catfish & grits have been revamped for the summer as a plate featuring butter beans and hushpuppies.
Pancakes (The Daily Ration)
I love pancakes and waffles but they have to be just the right consistency, texture and thickness. The Daily Ration gets it right. The pancakes are huge and I love getting them with blueberries for a little something extra.
Favorite foods I like to eat in Chattanooga (runners-up)
- Chicken shawarma hummus from Calliope. There are no words to describe how delicious this hummus is and it’s only a runner-up because I don’t eat it enough.
- Korean Philly from Pickle Barrel. This is an unexpected addition but I’m hooked. I definitely see more of this sandwich in my future.
Local peeps, what are your current favorite foods to eat in Chatt right now?
