I’m updating this post not only by updating the list of salads (some of the places listed no longer exist, RIP Flat Iron Deli) but I also deleted all of the original intro copy. I originally wrote this post in June of 2020 and a lot was going on at the time not to mention I also had a 2-month-old. So here I am, updating my favorite salads in Chattanooga.
I don’t always order salads when out to lunch or dinner but when I do, the list below is my go-to. I’d love to hear where your favorite Chattanooga salads exist. I’m always looking to try out new ones.
Who has my favorite salads in Chattanooga? Here are 6 of my favorites:
Kale salad @ Niedlov’s.
I first discovered this salad in 2019. Niedlov’s is one of my favorites for fresh pastries and bread and I love working from there too. If you’ve been a patron of Niedlov’s for as long as I’ve been, you know that the kale salad, in its original format, was once removed from the menu. I think I almost rioted when this happened. Needless to say, the kale salad is not one to be missed though. It’s full of kale (duh), bits of bacon, sundried tomatoes – and more. My favorites in the salad: are the croutons and the delicious smoked onion vinaigrette. Please get this salad.
House salad @ Public House.
This salad is huge and when I order it, I usually get it for dinner. I always add fried chicken strips because why not? For some reason, one of my favorite elements of the salad is the pieces of green beans.
Burrata salad @ Common House.
The ingredients change with the seasons and I think that’s one of the things I like about it. No matter the additions or subtractions, though, one thing remains the same: the burrata. It’s really good. It’s a great salad as is or sometimes I add grilled chicken or salmon.
Caesar salad @ Hello Monty.
I love getting the Caesar salad and adding blackened salmon. It’s pretty simple but there’s just something about it that I love.
Spinach salad @ 1885 Grill.
John likes this salad and that is shocking. It’s a pretty simple salad at first glance but I think it’s the sweet tea vinaigrette that sells it for me.
Kale salad @ Community Pie
Yep, another kale salad. I love getting this salad to accompany a giant slice of pizza (#balance). The Parmesan in this salad gives it a little saltiness and the champagne vinaigrette pulls it all together. Yum.
So, where’s your favorite place in Chattanooga to grab a salad?
Have you had the West By God salad at The Terminal? Definitely my favorite ever. It has steak, French Fries, and blue cheese on it. And while it wasn’t a local restaurant, I LOVED the salads at Nook’s. I was sad to see that they closed recently.
Oooh no I haven’t tried the Terminal salad. I need to add that to the list – sounds delicious!
Thank you for this post! I am always looking for good salads in Chattanooga. The kale salad at Niedlovs is my absolute favorite so I can’t wait to try the others on your list that I haven’t tried yet!
That kale salad is SO GOOD.
Great post! I also love Lupi’s house salad – yummy croutons, sweet French vin and blue cheese crumbles
Oooh, I’ll have to try that next time. Sounds like it would be great with a calzone!
