Charleston City Guide (2023)

Oh my gosh! Finally an update for my Charleston travel guide. The last time I made an update was in 2018 so we are wayyyy overdue. If you’re new here, let me give you a little background on why Charleston is so special.

John and I took a “mini-moon” after our wedding to Charleston and we loved it. We simply fell in love with the city. For our one-year anniversary, we decided to go back. For our second anniversary, we decided to go back again – you get the point. It’s safe to say, this has become one of our anniversary traditions. Except when 2020 came around plus having a newborn. Needless to say, it’s been a while since we’ve visited.

In 2018, I went back again but this time: without John. Sad but true. But don’t feel bad for me because I went with a bunch of girlfriends! I’ll admit, I was a little bummed to not be experiencing Charleston with John (it’s our special place) but I had so much fun with the girls!

Finally, in 2023 we made a return. This time with Mason in tow AND Jennifer, her husband and their baby, Miles. Yes, I think you can assume this trip was totally different than our past visits to Charleston.

Charleston is such a beautiful city. If you haven’t been, I hope you’ll add it to your travel list. Usually, when we go, it’s always around the same time as the Charleston Wine & Food – which is a great time to go. This time around we went in July and yes, it was hot (and very humid) but the city was still enjoyable.

Anyway, if you’re hoping to travel to Charleston soon, you can download my Charleston city guide, print it and use it to guide you on your trip. As usual, if you have additional Charleston suggestions, send them my way.

Charleston City Guide: Food

You’ll always have delicious meals in Charleston so it’s impossible to choose one meal that would be a favorite. I will say one of my most memorable meals was the “big nasty biscuit” at Hominy Grill (RIP) but there are so many other delicious food options!

Another favorite is Husk. Husk was the first restaurant we ate in after we got married so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Besides that little tidbit, it really is a phenomenal restaurant.
