Are you rolling your eyes? Because I’m rolling mine a bit. I love tacos. That’s obvious because I just shared a taco recipe earlier this week. I like food mash-ups, I really do, but sometimes I roll my eyes at them because its ridiculous. And even though I was on the fence about these cheeseburger tacos, I had a craving for them one day so here we are.
I’ve never had cheeseburger tacos before until I made these. I’m well aware I wasn’t coming up with a new idea because, let’s be honest, no idea is really new. But for some reason I really had a hankering for a food that I’d never had. I remember looking at John, commanding his attention then saying: I SHOULD MAKE CHEESEBURGER TACOS. As usual when I yell out random things, he’s not that impressed. He’s used to my random outbursts and yet, he still loves me. He’s my boo.
Anyway, back to the absurdity of these tacos.
Don’t get me wrong, these are pretty yummy and I’d make them again. I love tacos so I’m generally here for experimenting with various fillings. However, I don’t want to be known for gentrifying tacos, fam. In the same breath, when I have a craving for something – I have a craving.
Let’s do this: cheeseburger tacos
As I said earlier this week in my other taco post, tacos are easy. Make the filling and put it out – let your guests do all the work.
I preach this all the time here but please remember, whether you’re looking at a recipe I’ve shared here or someone else’s: a recipe is simply a guide. Change it up, switch it up however you see fit. In other words: Doowutchyalike (that’s a Digital Underground reference in case you’re wondering).
Maybe you don’t want to use ground beef. Fine. Use ground turkey instead or even crumbled tofu. Want to really turn heads? Put mustard on your taco. I’ve seen it done before so it’s not really that mind-blowing but again, doowutchyalike (do what you like, in case you’re still wondering).
