I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve done a Five Second Rule. I love this blog series even though I don’t do it all of the time. If you’re not familiar with this series, scroll to the bottom of this post for a brief explanation. You can also check out this roundup and also this one. Today I’m talking about recipes with fresh lemon juice. Not everyone loves cooking with citrus (who are these people?) but I do.
Now I can admit, in some recipes lemon juice is extremely overpowering and too tart. BUT with the right balance, recipes using fresh lemon juice are perfect! That goes for savory, sweet or cocktail recipes. This roundup includes 5 of my absolute favorite recipes with fresh lemon juice. The lemon doesn’t overwhelm any of the dishes but it enhances it – a lot. It adds a bit of freshness to each recipe rather than tart. Ready to see which dishes made the list?
5 Second Rule: recipes with fresh lemon juice
LEMONY ARUGULA SPAGHETTI CACIO E PEPE
You’ve seen this recipe many, many times. I make it a few times a month because it’s so ridiculously easy, it’s crazy flavorful and it comes from my favorite, Chrissy Teigen. (RECIPE)
VODKA BASIL SMASH
Do you like lemony cocktails? This has about an ounce of fresh lemon juice but it’s perfectly balanced with basil. It’s perfect year-round but even more enjoyable on a hot summer day. (RECIPE)
LEMON & BROWN BUTTER RAVIOLI
There’s nothing better than semi-homemade dishes. Sure this recipe may involved store bought ravioli but the fresh lemon juice and other ingredients make it feel a little less store bought. (RECIPE)
LEMON MARGARITA
Talk about fresh! This is definitely one of my favorite recipes with fresh lemon juice because let’s be honest: there’s nothing better than an ice cold margarita. (RECIPE)
LEMON SHEET CAKE
This is a recipe I wish I could take credit for. It’s so good. I know it’s good because John, who isn’t a big sweets person, wanted more and more of it. It’s that good! (RECIPE)
