All of a sudden, it got really cold here and I am not happy about it. I think I’ve complained about my hatred of cold weather many, many times on this blog before and I don’t foresee me putting an end to my complaints. On top of the sudden drop in temps, my schedule hasn’t slowed down yet. In fact, there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon. Not that I expected a slow down in my to do list just because it’s cold BUT it sure does make my life much easier when I don’t have to leave my warm house to battle treacherous temperatures.*

*In case you’re new here, I’m being very sarcastic. Yes, it’s cold but I also live in Tennessee where the high for the day is 50ish BUT IT FEELS MUCH COOLER EVERYONE. I’m trying to justify and explain my nonsense – can we just go with it? I digress…

Usually, the end of the year means slowing down and getting ready for the holidays but in my case, it’s been the absolute opposite of slowing down. Managing my schedule while trying to maintain proper hydration levels is hard sometimes. Do you feel like you stay hydrated enough? Many of us don’t drink the recommended amount of liquids in a day. The Mayo Clinic recommends we consume 6.3 cups a day but the average consumed is 2.5 cups – did you know that? Even my husband, who DJ’s and is constantly running from work to his gigs, ferociously gulps POWERADE ZERO™ when he gets home. Emphasis on ferocious.

I know that we’re not the only people out here who gets crazy busy this time of the year. For all of you readers out there who are juggling and struggling to balance it all, allow me to offer a few tips to keep you stress-free and well-hydrated.

5 ways to keep hydrated & stress-free during a busy week

Do you ever feel like there are days when even your meetings have meetings? Wonderful, I’m not alone. Truth is, there are days when we’re going to feel like everything is out of balance and out of control. Most of those days, I guarantee hydration is not on the top of our lists.

Alright, ready for my tips/tutorial for staying relaxed and hydrated? Here we go:

#1 PRIORITIZE – DON’T BALANCE.

This is one of my “secrets” to achieving some glimmer of success. It’s OK not to do all the things at once. Prioritize what needs to get done first and go from there. Easy.

#2 STOCK UP ON vitaminwater zero squeezed AT TARGET.

Obviously, right? I’ve always been a fan of vitaminwater and it’s conveniently located in the enhanced water section of the store.

#3 WRITE IT DOWN

My husband sometimes makes fun of me because of my obsession with writing things down. I’m here to tell you: it works. Grab your favorite notebook and jot everything down. Seeing something on paper makes it more permanent and helps you stay on track with your daily or weekly tasks.

#4 CONTINUE TO HYDRATE PROPERLY THROUGHOUT YOUR DAY

Grab a DASANI® and remember to stay hydrated between meetings. I try to keep a bottle near my laptop when I work. Have you ever noticed how refreshing it feels when you take a sip of water? Remember that feeling when you’re stressed or overwhelmed throughout the day.

#5 PRACTICE BREATHING EXERCISES

This sounds pretty granola of me but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been so caught up in my day – not focusing on my well-being. Sometimes simply taking a moment to consciously breath in (through your nose) and out (through your mouth), followed by a sip of vitaminwater zero squeezed or DASANI can really make a quick self-care difference. Trust me.

Now that you’re done reading my advice, head to Target (my favorite place) and stock up. How do you #HydrateYourDay?
