Need some inspiration? So do I.
JUST KIDDING. I’m here today to share some inspo with you. Five second rule is one of my favorite ways to share some ingredient inspiration. It allows you to hopefully think outside of the box and try some different recipes all using one ingredient. And today, it’s all about HONEY.
If I’m being honest, from the first moment I wrote the title of this blog post, I couldn’t stop singing Mariah Carey’s ‘Honey’. What a jam. Are you a Mariah Carey fan? Of course you are – why would I even ask that. She has the voice of an angel. Enough about Mariah, let’s get to this honey.
Five Second Rule: HONEY!
Honey can be used for a number of things but my favorite is drizzling on finished dishes and infusing it into cocktails. When I was growing up I HATED HONEY and while it’s still not my absolute favorite, I’ve definitely grown to appreciate it way more now. I remember my parents would drizzle honey on their biscuits and I thought it was the weirdest thing ever. Now, I sort of get it.
Have you tried spicy honey from Bushwick Kitchen? Oh yeah, it’s good on pizza, fried chicken – honestly anything. Enough of me rambling, let’s get into these five honey recipes.
HONEY ORANGE GLAZED CHICKEN
This chicken is so good, you must make it immediately. (RECIPE)
BLACK PEPPER HONEY + ROASTED VEGGIES
Honey is so easy to infuse with other spices and herbs. This black pepper honey is sweet and a little peppery. More importantly, it was perfect to pour onto roasted vegetables. I’d imagine this may be good slathered on ice cream too. (RECIPE)
THE HONEY CHILD (A WHISKEY COCKTAIL)
This is a recipe where honey is the standout but not just any honey – rosemary honey. As I mentioned, honey is easy to infuse and the rosemary honey can be used in this drink but also in other cocktails or tea. (RECIPE)
BAKED HONEY & GOAT CHEESE PEARS
There’s nothing I love more than a really easy appetizer. Not only is this easy to prep but it looks beautiful and would be the perfect appetizer for a party. (RECIPE via Honest Cooking)
HONEY CITRUS VINAIGRETTE
Have someone in your life who is pretty unimpressed with fruit? Pour this honey citrus vinaigrette on top and I guarantee they’ll be asking for more. For real. (RECIPE)
