Holiday Gift Guide 2018: Women Owned Businesses

It’s officially holiday time. Are you one of those people who has strong feelings when someone says “happy holidays”? Yes, I’m rolling my eyes here. Not that I need to explain myself BUT I generally say happy holidays to folks during this time of year because THERE ARE SO MANY HOLIDAYS happening. I’d imagine that’s why other folks say it – not because they’re trying to take Jesus out of the holidays (insert another eye roll).

I’m way off subject here.

OK – let’s get back. This is the time of year where everyone and I mean everyone, is writing about holiday gift guides. It’s sort of overwhelming. For a time during this blog, I stayed away from doing gift guides; I just wasn’t feeling it. However, I’ve changed my tune a little bit. I decided that if I’m going to do a gift guide, I wanted it to be meaningful. I also didn’t want to inundate readers with tons of items that you’ve probably seen on other sites.

Because of this, I decided to very specific guides and only feature 6 items on each. That’s it. This year, leading up to Christmas, I’ll share guides featuring: women owned businesses, black owned businesses, must have cookbooks and kitchen essentials. Ready to get into it?

Holiday gift guide: women owned businesses

So my definition of a women owned business is one that is women led or founded. This doesn’t mean there’s no man on the team, OK? Also I’m choosing women owned businesses because it’s important to me however, I’m aware there are awesome businesses out there that are owned by women, men and non-binary folks. Check out my past women-owned business guides (here and here).

Southerly Flower Farm – The wonderful couple who owns Southerly Flower Farm are friends of ours and I’m so proud of what the business they’ve created. Their CSA could be an option for a belated Christmas gift. Think: a surprise present after the holidays are over – I like those kinds of gifts.

Shop Bando graphic tees – I love a good graphic tee and Ban.do has lots of them. Here’s one of my favorites.

Honey Creeper Chocolate – I got a chance to taste and visit Honey Creeper Chocolate when John and I visited Birmingham. The truffles were so delicious – I still think about them. Honey Creeper offers bean-to-bar chocolate and small batch truffles – perfect for gifts!
