This summer has been my year for spritz sipping. Sure, I know that the idea of spritzers aren’t a new concept but I’ve never really gone out of my way to order them or to make them at home. But let me tell you, spritzers are so easy to make. I love the idea of 5 minutes cocktails because it’s approachable and everyone can spare at least 5 minutes to make a cocktail, right? The sauvignon blanc spritz is perfect for entertaining, sipping while watching trashy TV (which I don’t do) or just plain old ‘because you need a cocktail’. Whatever the reason, the spritz is there for you.
You know when I said I don’t watch trashy TV (it was just a sentence ago). . . I was lying. But I’m sure you knew that. John and I have shows that we watch together but there are things I LOVE to watch when he’s not home. It’s not all ‘trashy’ stuff, though. Sometimes its shows that I simply watch alone and honestly, I don’t feel like explaining to someone new. Sorry, John.
Sipping this sauvignon blanc spritz is perfect for watching Shahs of Sunset (do you watch this?) or The Real Housewives franchise (don’t judge). By the time this post is published, the season finale of Insecure (not trashy TV AT ALL) will have aired already. This drink would be perfect for that. After each episode, they have ‘wine downs’, which are talk back sessions that go inside each episode. It’s pretty neat. God, I hope you watch Insecure – it’s perfect.
5 minute cocktail: sauvignon blanc spritz
I feel like wine spritzers have a bad reputation – is that true? Granted, I don’t usually order them when I’m out but I see the appeal. I have really gotten into Aperol spritzes this summer and it’s one of the best things I’ve done this season (no really, I feel that way). They’re so easy to make and they’re very refreshing. Did you know you can get an Aperol spritz in a pre-made, adorable little bottle? I’m not sure if it’s available in the U.S. but it seems perfect for a picnic or day at the beach.
Remember: 5 minute cocktails are quick cocktails that pack flavor without a huge time commitment. You can also make edits or changes as needed but remember – DON’T OVER-COMPLICATE IT. Drink up.
