I started cocktail week in 2015 as an opportunity for me to celebrate adult beverages in an approachable way. I’m not a bartender but I love to experiment and try out new things at home. You know, sort of like a home baker? But with cocktails instead. I love focusing on simple cocktails (check out one of my 5 minute cocktails) and I believe cocktails don’t have to be difficult to make at home. This year, I’m so excited to focus on WOMEN INSPIRED COCKTAILS – I can barely contain myself.
I’m sure we all have women in our lives who have given us advice, right? Whether it’s your mom, sister, friend or co-worker, we all have that special lady in our lives.
The dictionary defines sage as: having, showing or indicating profound wisdom. Raise your hand if there’s a woman in your life who falls under the sage advice category. I have a life policy where I don’t solicit advice from anyone I don’t trust and or respect. I mean, I honestly don’t know why anyone would seek advice from a non-trustworthy person but it happens, I guess.
Years ago I wrote down a quote and it was something to effect of, advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer. I found something truthful about that. Often times (especially as women), we ignore our instincts and go in other directions. At times, when we do seek counsel, deep down inside, we already know the answer. I don’t suggest asking for advice from everyone but when you do ask, make sure you trust and respect the person.
If you’re wondering who today’s cocktail is inspired by, the answer is pretty easy: all women.
