We bought a house!

So not too long ago, John and I closed on a house! Eeek! So far, it’s been pretty exciting, a little scary and definitely very overwhelming. We haven’t moved in yet which is great because it’s giving us a little extra time to pack and get our thoughts together on work that needs to be done before we move in. This time around, we’re moving with a toddler so there are lots of things to manage and think about and good grief – there’s the overwhelming part. Overall, we’re excited, though – promise.

The home was built in 1940 so it has a bit of charm but also needs some updates. Lucky for us, the HVAC is new (less than a year old) and the roof still has some life in it. John and I both realize that all of the updates, especially some of the cosmetic ones, won’t all be done at one time but we’re trying to get some of the important things complete before move-in. I read somewhere on Instagram that decorating a home is a marathon, not a sprint. So that’s the motto we’re living by.

I think I’m going to share some of our process of getting the house together over time both here and on Instagram. I don’t quite know what I’m doing but we’re both down to learn and are open to asking and/or hiring help when needed.

Some inspiration for the new house

I’m all over the place when it comes to color schemes and decorating and to keep it 100% real, a lot of ideas I love may not be possible in our house however, here’s some inspiration that has caught my eye over the last few weeks.

Anyway, that’s enough for now. If you have tips for John and me, let me know. Can’t wait to start this journey!
