Turmeric mustard sauce (with grilled veggies)

Jump to recipe

Even though this summer looks a little different than others (hello, quarantine), my husband and I are still finding time to enjoy delicious and simple meals at home. While I love cooking, I think summertime is the best time to keep it light and easy in the kitchen. Sometimes that means firing up the grill and other times, it means ordering out (hey, I’m being honest here). On our most recent summer cooking adventure, we decided to fire up the grill!

OK, I’ll tell you more about my grilling experience in a moment but let’s take a second to talk about sauces. I love dipping sauces and I enjoy dipping most foods in some type of sauce. Knowing this about myself, I couldn’t wait to make a new favorite summer sauce using Maille Dijon Originale Mustard.

First thing’s first: this mustard is delicious. Maille mustard can easily transform any dish into a simple food experience. Just a spoonful of it can take whatever you’re serving to the next level. Because this summer has been so interesting (yeah, that’s the word…interesting), I decided we needed to step up our sauce game so I made a turmeric mustard sauce using our Maille Dijon Originale Mustard. We used our sauce for dipping grilled veggies but you could also spread it on sandwiches, hotdogs or use it as a base for roasting chicken.

How to: Turmeric Mustard Sauce

I don’t know about you but I never really thought about adding turmeric to mustard until I started brainstorming ingredients for this sauce. Turmeric is a good-for-you ingredient and that’s exactly what we’re going for this summer. The turmeric also deepens the gorgeous yellow color of the mustard. In addition to the turmeric, I knew I wanted my new summer condiment to have a creamy texture so I decided to add in some tahini (a condiment made from ground sesame seeds). If for some reason you’re unable to find tahini, you could try adding in plain or Greek yogurt.

The star of this sauce is, of course, the Maille Dijon Originale Mustard but you can certainly try this recipe with any of their mustard varieties. Remember we’re keeping it easy for the summer so we opted for grilled some vegetables to go along with our sauce. Something you may (or may not) be shocked to learn about me: I’ve never grilled anything before. Ever. John purchased a new grill earlier this summer and while he’s been manning the grill, I’ve been determined to figure out how to use it. See? I’m not just eating my way through summer. I’m also learning a new skill.

As I prepped my veggies, I gave myself a pep talk and asked John to fire up the grill. Then I proceeded to head outside to grill some of my favorite vegetables. I don’t think I did too bad for my first time (with John’s supervision). For my first grilling adventure, I grilled zucchini, squash, bell peppers, onions and broccolini. All perfect for dipping in our mustard sauce.

Besides their delicious products, another thing I really like about Maille is that they’re all about building community. Folks like me and you can join the My Maille community, which launched about a year ago. It’s also one of the most successful Food Groups on Facebook!

Joining this community is a fun way to discover new recipes and make new food friends. I hear when they reach 40,000 members, Maille will reward 40 members with lots of Maille products. Sounds like a win-win, right? Now let’s make a sauce.
