Cocktail Week: Pimm’s Spritz

Jump to recipe

I started cocktail week in 2015 as an opportunity to celebrate adult beverages in an approachable way. I’m not a bartender but I love to experiment and try out new things at home. You know, sort of like a home baker? But with cocktails instead. I love focusing on simple cocktails (check out one of my 5 minute cocktails) and I believe cocktails don’t have to be difficult to make at home. This year, I’m so excited to focus on SPRITZ RECIPES!

You’ve heard of a Pimm’s Cup, right? It’s a cocktail that has Pimm’s No. 1, a bunch of ingredients like strawberries, mint and oranges (and maybe some other stuff) then lemonade. Though, I’ve seen different variations of Pimm’s Cups – including replacing the lemonade with ginger ale. I’ll be honest, my first try at a Pimm’s Cup didn’t go that well; I didn’t really love it (sorry to my Pimm’s lovers out there). Despite my initial experience, it hasn’t stopped me from experimenting with a Pimm’s spritz.

Once I was gifted with a bottle of Pimm’s. But it wasn’t just any bottle, it was their blackberry and elderflower liqueur. Oh yeah this was good. And I decided to make my Pimm’s spritz with, yes, you guessed it, Pimm’s blackberry and elderflower.

The blackberry and elderflower packs a powerful flavorful – it is not to be underestimated.

Remember that ratio we talked about yesterday? 2oz liqueur, 3oz something sparkling + more bubbles like a club soda.

We’re using that same ratio for this drink. Remember, the Pimm’s blackberry and elderflower has a bit of a strong flavor so depending on your tolerance level and your palette, you may want to adjust the ratio a bit. To focus on the blackberry flavor a bit more, I used blackberry Izze for the soda portion of this drink (which is one of my favorites). You could also use a blackberry or elderflower Italian soda if you can find it.
