Can you believe we’re at episode seven already? What’s even more difficult to believe is that I started watching this latest season without John because I did not have time to wait for him to catch up. He’s since started rewatching the entire series from the beginning, which is something I always recommend. You’ll always catch something you missed the first time around when you watch it again.
The last couple of episodes we’ve been taking it light with the drink suggestions and now that we’re nearing the end, we’re stepping it up again. Last week, I didn’t have a full blog post for a drink but I’ve been updating my Instagram. For episode 6, it was all about red wine and today we’re kicking off episode 7 with a French 75. I love French 75s, how about you? As much as I enjoy this classic cocktail, the only recipe I have on EDF is this blood orange French 75 (which is delicious, by the way). I thought it was time to finally share a recipe for the classic version of this drink.
How to: a French 75
While I don’t recall ever seeing any characters on Succession sip on a French 75, I’d imagine it’s a drink that Tom might enjoy – maybe even Shiv too. Can’t you just envision Tom sipping one of these in a fancy champagne flute, probably wearing a turtleneck?
OK, enough trying to figure out which character would drink what beverage – let’s make a French 75. This cocktail is so easy. Even if you consider yourself to be a novice at-home bartender, you can 100% make this with ease. You don’t need any fancy equipment or expensive alcohol to make this refreshing bevy.
Ingredients
- 1 oz gin
- .5 oz lemon juice
- .5 oz simple syrup
- Champagne (about 2 ounces)
- Lemon twist
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add in the gin, lemon juice and simple. Shake until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
- Pour into a flute or coupe glass; top with champagne.
- Garnish with lemon twist.
