So let me talk about something for a second: John and I live in a place that has a parking lot and we pay for said spaces in order to access our home. There are signs everywhere in our lot, warning folks to not park here without a permit. We also live behind a music venue which means occasionally people refuse to read and they park here anyway. For the most part, it doesn’t always bother me because its not a daily battle with people parking in our lot. But for nights when there are shows, it gets really annoying. John knows I get fixated on this because I’m not a ‘rule breaker’ so I cannot for the life of me understand why people park here though there are 6 signs telling them not to.
Currently, I’m supposed to be sharing a yummy black pepper honey with you but all I can think about is the rule breakers who are actually parked in our lot now. I’m telling you all of this because as I type this, there are tow trucks outside. I hear the tow trucks outside and now I’ve become fixated on it – constantly running back and forth to our living room window watching the action. Is this nuts?
Maybe.
But it’s my life and I can watch if I want to.
OK you’re probably here for the honey recipe so let’s talk about it. I don’t know too many adults who don’t enjoy vegetables (though I’m sure they exist) but if you do, I have the perfect solution: make black pepper honey then drizzle it on some veggies. Oh yeah!
How to: black pepper honey
Yes, this is delicious on vegetables but full disclosure: you can also drizzle this on fried chicken (yum) or on a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. But I’m always looking for ways to jazz up some vegetables and this was perfect. By the way, making flavored or infused honey is so ridiculously easy.
I remember growing up, my parents would put honey on their biscuits and I hated it. I never really liked the taste of honey and couldn’t understand why anyone would put anything other than butter on their biscuits. Fast forward to today, honey still isn’t my favorite condiment but I do have a better appreciation for it now. I’ve been loving this honey from Bushwick Kitchen – it’s spicy and really delicious on pizza.
Alright, let’s make some black pepper honey.
Ingredients

- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- In a small pot over medium/low heat, combine the honey and the pepper. Stir until the honey is heated through and the pepper is well distributed.
- Serve warm over your favorite roasted vegetables.
