Summer just always seems to fly by so quickly. Why is that? Even though the temperatures are blazing (and sometimes intolerable) summer is my favorite. It’s not only my birthday season, which is enough reason to celebrate (duh), I feel like it’s the season where people are more relaxed. Do you get that vibe? I wish adults, like students, got real summer breaks. No work, no worries – just lounging and relaxation.
Anyway this summer was fun – I just wish it didn’t end so quickly. Since fall is officially here, I thought I’d take a moment to recap my summer and try to hold on to that summer feeling. Catch last year’s summer wrap-up here.
How was your summer? What did you do?
Summer fun recap
First things first. I tried to be more consistent with content this summer. Here are a few of my favorite blog posts:
The start of my 5 second rule series
Cocktail week featuring women-inspired cocktails (Oprah, Lena Waithe, Maxine Waters and all the women)
I updated one of my favorite Chrissy Tiegen recipes (finally)
Most importantly started a conversation about the lack of diversity in influencer marketing
And for my birthday, I shared 36 of my favorite things
I updated a few travel guides (always fun): New Orleans, Charleston and Birmingham.
Jennifer and I got a chance to be guests on VaynerMedia’s podcast (you can listen here) AND my BFF had a baby. Ugh, you guys, he’s so cute.
Obviously if you follow this blog or you follow me on Instagram, you know I love food and drinks (I mean, it’s in the title of this little site). I was thrilled to be able to work on fun campaigns with Aperol, Home Chef and W&P Design (they’re responsible for those reallycute in-flight cocktail kits).
Summer recap, other stuff
I tend to lean towards watching TV when I’m lounging and relaxing. This summer I started watching Jane the Virgin and patiently awaited the start of Insecure. Don’t worry, I didn’t just watch television all summer. I did pick up a new book too: I’m Still Here. Black Dignity in a World made for Whiteness. Read it.
Despite the speed at which summer comes and goes, it’s still such a fun season. I love dining and drinking outside (when you can stand the heat) and I love the the relaxation that summer brings. I’m looking forward to fall. Even though I don’t crave cold temperatures, I’m excited for slightly cooler temps – for wardrobe purposes, of course. I hope you had a great summer. Cheers to fall!
