Recently I launched a new series called five second rule. Do you remember me telling you about it? If not, here’s the inaugural post. A quick recap: five second rule is about sharing new and old recipes from my cooking adventures but also sharing recipes from around the internet. Each five second rule features a different ingredient. I hope to give you inspiration to try or re-try a new-ish recipe. I’m excited about this particular five second rule because it’s all about champagne recipes!
Did you know, there are people out there who don’t like champagne? Can you even imagine? One year, one of my food resolutions was to always keep a bottle of champagne in our house, preferably the fridge, in case we needed to celebrate anything major. I’d say that was a pretty smart decision. I still try to keep that up. I just have to keep myself from opening the bottle. Well, it’s OK if you open the bottle as long as you have a handy little bottle stopper to keep the champers fresh if you don’t finish it. Who am I kidding? Of course you probably finish the bottle.
In this roundup, I think you’ll find something that piques your interest even if you’re not the biggest champagne aficionado. Well, maybe.
Five second rule: champagne recipes
Champagne is wonderful and can be treated as a main ingredient or as a lovely last touch to an already existing cocktail. What’s your favorite way to incorporate champagne into your recipes?
CHAMPAGNE RICE KRISPIE TREATS
Rice Krispie treats are delicious. I don’t know why I don’t make them more often. I find these treats so decadent and adding champagne to the recipe just elevates this kid-loving dessert to adult-loving dessert. (RECIPE)
THE PERFECT MIMOSA
We all know mimosas are perfect for brunch but the best mimosas are ones that are perfectly balanced with the juice to champagne ratio. In my opinion, a great mimosas can be made by using juice ice cubes then topping with champagne. (RECIPE)
CHAMPAGNE FLOAT
Growing up, I was not a fan of floats. Anything that combined liquid with something solid just altered the foods’ texture way too much for me. However, I’ve found that champagne floats, are the type of floats I can totally get into. (RECIPE)
CHAMPAGNE VINAIGRETTE
Vinaigrettes are SO EASY to make – I can’t even express how simple it is. Have you ever tried champagne vinaigrette? It’s delicious for salads or even fish. But here’s the thing: there’s no actual champagne in it. Champagne vinaigrette calls for champagne vinegar but you can drink champagne while you make it. (RECIPE)
FLIRTINI
This yummy beverage is based on a Sex and the City episode. It’s such an easy beverage and even better? You can make it in large batch form so you can serve it at brunch or at a dinner party. And not only does it have champagne but also vodka – watch out. (RECIPE)
