Yes, the name of this blog is Eat.Drink.Frolic. so many of the posts here will fit into that category. However, over the last year, I’ve been trying to do a better job of sharing a bit more information about me and my personal thoughts about certain subjects (like here and here). I first published this post in January of 2016 and I thought I would update it. Along with the fact that when I published it, my college roommate responded that she already knew these things (haha), I thought it could be time for an update.
My life hasn’t been that exciting but after some thinking, I’m sure I could come up with a couple of other facts that some of you may not know. I kept a couple of the original facts on this list because it’s still pretty interesting to me – I’ve notated the new ones.
5 Things you may not know about me
I interned for Big Boi (of Outkast) – new
When I lived in Atlanta, I was on the hunt to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to do something that involved music and public relations. Atlanta is a hub for both so I had no problem finding opportunities. I got an awesome opportunity to intern with Purple Ribbon Records, which was owned by Big Boi. Purple Ribbon represented artists like Janelle Monáe, Killer Mike and Sleepy Brown. It was a fun/interesting time to say the least.
Was offered an internship for a presidential candidate
Once in college, a friend and I decided to go after some political type internships; we both had the same major. Lucky for us, we got one. It was with a presidential candidate who, in the long run, did not get very far in the process. It was still a pretty cool opportunity but with classes and a part-time job, I didn’t have all the hours I needed to fulfill the entire commitment so I didn’t finish the internship.
I sent an audition tape for The Real World
Do you remember a time when The Real World was one of the most popular shows on cable? It was just so good. I loved it until I became older than everyone on the show – sad. One time in college, my friends and I decided to send in an audition tape for the Las Vegas season. Everyone remembers that season, right? Anyway, we sent in a tape – like an actual tape that we recorded on my roommate’s video camera. Ahhh, those were the days.
I had personalized plates on my first car – new
I begged my parents to buy me a car in high school because thought I “deserved” it. The options I suggested to my parents were a Mitsubishi Eclipse or an Acura Integra. My geometry teacher had an Integra and I thought it was cool. I ended up with an Eclipse and I LOVED it. It was silver, had tinted windows and it was a 5 speed, which by the way, I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO DRIVE. Anyway, I decided to get personalized plates because ‘everyone else did’ and what I chose was embarrassing. My plates read: DSPOLD1. This translates to the spoiled one. I’m cringing as I write this. On one of my last visits home, I found my old plates in my parents’ garage.
I wanted to be a United States Senator
Going to college in the DC area, I was always consumed with politics – I sort of loved it. I always thought I would work in the law and political fields. However, once I moved away from our nation’s capital, I quickly realized that law wasn’t my true calling. I’m still interested in politics but I don’t think I’ll be running for a political office anytime soon.
What’s a little known fact about you?
