Week of Love: Music

No, I don’t just sit around and eat food all day…I eat food AND listen to music!  I love music. Growing up, my parents always listened to music.  My dad is a huge Marvin Gaye fan so there was lots of that not to mention we both played the piano.  When I was younger, my parents put me in piano and I played the flute so music has really been a part of my life since I can remember.  I’ll never forget one evening coming home from visiting my BFF and my dad had gotten me a gift: it was the cassette tape of TLC’s Oooh on the TLC Tip. I used to be obsessed with TLC and this tape made me so happy.  There was another year where I got a Boyz II Men CD for Christmas, can’t remember the name of it but it was the one that had Bended Knee and I’ll Make Love to You on it…ahhhh, the 90’s.  I say all of this to say: I heart music.

I’ve been to quite a few concerts but my favorite ones would probably have to be Corinne Bailey Rae, Nas & Lauryn Hill and Jay-z (I’ve seen him 5 times already).

On a road trip not too long ago, John and I narrowed down our top 10 favorite songs…of all time!  Very difficult especially for two people who really love music but we did it.  I’m not going to give you the entire list of all 10 but here’s three of them that definitely made it to my list!

1.  Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers (off of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album)

2.  Tears Dry on Their Own – Amy Winehouse (off of her Back to Black Album)

3.  Take a Bow – Madonna (off of her Bedtime Stories album)

Now, Valentine’s day is just a couple of days away and I couldn’t have a post about love without leaving you with a playlist of 5 of my favorite love songs.  How lovely.

What songs do you love?
