Breaking Bad Dinner

So, boyfriend has taken over the blog.

I’ve relinquished control and allowed John to do his own thing and not only cook dinner but share his recipe “secrets” on the blog.  We’re fans of Breaking Bad (duh) and though I hated to say goodbye to this show that I just discovered last year, we thought it ended pretty well and Vince Gilligan is a genius.  Why not have some type of Breaking Bad themed dinner, right?  When is the next time we’ll have a chance to do this? Oh, right…never.  On the menu:

Breaking Bad Beef [chuck] Roast
Uncle Jack BBQ Sauce
Mike ‘n Cheese
Walter White Tea

We came up with way too many themes and names with not enough time so we settled with this.  My tweet pretty much sums up what we did.

John made a rub for the roast that consisted of many things but a few key spices: chipotle sea salt, thyme and a Jamaican jerk seasoning.  He made sure to let me know that another major ingredient was…love.  Let’s not get sappy here, we are talking about Breaking Bad…

He added some red potatoes, onions and later a veggie mixture to the slow cooker…

When the final product was done, he drizzled Uncle Jack’s BBQ sauce over the roast.  Uncle Jack’s BBQ sauce obviously has Jack Daniel’s in it.  Have you seen Uncle Jack?  I’m pretty sure he enjoys a little Jack Daniel’s…neat.

The Mike (mac) ‘n Cheese is pretty much a basic recipe.  This is the only dish I was allowed to help with.  The secret to my mac & cheese?  Gruyere.

Breaking Bad we’ll miss you.  Maybe I’ll let John share his recipes more often.  Just maybe.
