Weekend Vibes: Chef’s Table on Netflix

What I'm currently binge watching on netflix.I know, I know. I’ve mentioned Chef’s Table here before. Even though I finished watching it a while ago, it’s still forever etched in my brain. I just loved it so much. There’s so much creativity and thought that goes into every restaurant and plate, it’s simply impressive. As I was watching the series, I couldn’t help but dream about some of the restaurants I’d love to visit and the chef’s I’d love to meet. There are currently three seasons of Chef’s Table on Netflix and as I thought about it, I wanted to share my favorite (or dream) restaurants.

One of the reasons why I love watching food and travel shows is to get inspired. Whenever John and I are thinking about taking a trip, we always think about the food part of it first; sightseeing is usually a secondary thought. When I watch these shows, I get recipe inspiration and I certainly get ideas for travel. Chef’s Table features chefs all over the world and while, we may not get to a lot of these places, I think some of them are doable.

We’ll see.

My dream restaurants from Chef’s Table

Season one featured chef’s from all over including places like, Italy, Argentina and Australia. From that season, my favorite chef/restaurant was Niki Nakayama. Niki owns the restaurant, N/Naka in Los Angeles. N/Naka is an upscale restaurant featuring a Japanese tasting menu. The restaurant is beautiful (you can check out more on Eater) but the story of the chef, Niki, is what really reeled me in.

Next up: Dominique Crenn (from season 2). Dominique is a French chef who, I believe, has two Michelin stars. She just seemed really cool. She has a restaurant called Atelier Crenn in San Francisco and it looks fabulous. There are only 8 seats and the tasting menu starts at $325 per person.

Gaggan Anand via Hungry Forever

Also from season 2 is Gaggan Anand. Gaggan really seems like the coolest. His restaurant, Gaggan, serves progressive Indian cuisine in Bangkok. The food he serves really looks like plates of art and I’m dying to try his food and meet him. The restaurant opened in 2010 but get this: he’s planning to close it in 2020.

In season three, we meet Vladimir Mukhin. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants featured on Chef’s Table. When John came home after I’d watched Vladimir’s episode, I couldn’t help but spout off all the things about this restaurant. It’s in Moscow and it’s called White Rabbit. It is the most beautiful restaurant I’ve seen. I have no plans to travel to Moscow but if for some reason we ended up there, White Rabbit is definitely on the list.

Lastly, Nancy Silver. Nancy owns the restaurant Mozza in LA. I loved Nancy’s story. From watching her in the kitchen baking breads to hearing about her life (starting restaurants, a divorce, etc.) it was pretty cool.

Have you watched Chef’s Table? Do you have any favorite chef’s or restaurants?
