Louisville Weekend Guide

Louisville is an easy drive from Chattanooga. It’s honestly really cool how close we are to other fun cities. John and I have friends who live there and we’ve been talking about going to visit for some time. Unfortunately, time continued to get away from us and we could never get it together to plan a trip. Lucky for us, our friends who live there recently got married so naturally, that was the perfect opportunity to go visit. I was so excited to explore and more importantly, I’m excited to *finally* share my Louisville weekend guide with you!

Things to know about Louisville:

  • It’s Kentucky’s largest city
  • It sits on the Ohio River / along the Indiana border
  • It’s well-known for the Kentucky Derby which happens in May
  • Major League Baseball bats are made there

Overall: Louisville is an awesome city with lots of nooks and neighborhoods that are perfect for exploring.

Louisville weekend guide

With any trip we take, I try to research and plan it out pretty well. Not in an unreasonable way but I like to eliminate the constant questioning, “where should we go tonight?” or “what should we eat tonight?” – you know? With a well thought out plan, it makes any trip much more smooth.

With this Louisville weekend guide, I had a Google Doc that John wanted no parts of. And to be honest, that’s OK. It’s much easier if I can do my own research in regards to planning a trip. Trust me on this. We’re planning another trip to Birmingham soon and you better believe I have a Google Doc for that too.

Louisville has a ton of sites to see and places to eat and drink; we couldn’t begin to scratch the surface on all of them but we did our best. There were a few places I was excited about exploring one of which being MilkWood. Delicious food and the restaurant is described as southern inspiration + Asian flavors (they have collard greens and kimchi on the menu). The other place we were very interested in including in my Lousiville weekend guide was the Muhammad Ali Center. We could have spent the entire day there. It’s such an awesome way to honor his legacy and for all generations to learn more about Ali. Whether you’re a boxing fan or not, this place is great.

I hope you’ll use this guide on your upcoming trip to Louisville. Hopefully John and I will return soon. Click the button below to begin exploring Louisville!
