48 Hours in Charlottesville

Most of you know that when I put together any type of travel guide, it’s mostly a guide for where to eat in said city. I’ve been trying to get better by including some other things to do besides eat. But if I’m being honest: this is who I am and my travel guides will always be filled with food and drink options. Recently, I traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia for a conference and while we were there, I thought I’d take note of a few places for a short guide on things to do in Charlottesville.

A couple of things to note: a couple of years ago Charlottesville was in the news. There was a disgusting white supremacist rally that turned deadly. Prior to that, I’m sure the city wasn’t a perfect city – no city is. But in my mind, it was how I remember it when I was growing up. In my naivete, Charlottesville looks like a postcard and that’s the end of it.

That’s not the reality, though. Now, even though that terrible rally happened, the city is still beautiful and full of history. I remember growing up and taking field trips there to Monticello and the University of Virginia. It did, in fact, look like a postcard.

48 hours: things to do in Charlottesville

Jennifer and I got an opportunity to speak at a conference that takes place in Charlottesville. We couldn’t pass up on it so we decided to take a road trip and seize the day (and I’m so glad we did). We met some pretty awesome folks and got a chance to share our work and at the time, do some last minute promo for our crowdfunding campaign (whew).

OK enough about the boring stuff.

We weren’t in Charlottesville for a very long time but we did find some time to eat and drink some delicious food. Hope you’ll enjoy this guide on a glimpse of things to do in Charlottesville. Have you been? Where are your favorite places?
