Five Second Rule: Tequila!

The year is almost over. We’ve hosted and eaten all the things for Thanksgiving. We’ve wrapped presents and now it’s time to ring in a new year. To me, that sounds like a perfect time for tequila – doesn’t it? Maybe I’m pushing it a bit but there’s never a wrong time to bring up tequila in my opinion. Today’s five second rule is dedicated to sharing five recipes with tequila that aren’t all margaritas.

Nothing against margaritas (I love them) BUT for those of you who don’t love margaritas I think you’ll love the variety in options for these recipes with tequila. There’s even a couple of food-related ones. Yep, tequila is great in marinades. Whatever your relationship is with tequila, I hope this post will help you step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Tequila is very multidimensional as you’ll see.

5 recipes with tequila

TEQUILA LIME CHICKEN (via Grandbaby Cakes)
Remember when I said tequila makes a great marinade? Well here’s exhibit A. It has both citrusy and savory ingredients like Worcestershire sauce. If you’re looking for something new to try for dinner, here you go. (RECIPE)

W.W.O.D. (a berry-inspired margarita)
This drink is refreshing and dark in color – it’s really beautiful especially if you garnish it with something green. In case you’re wondering what WWOD stands for, it’s what would Oprah do. Duh. (RECIPE)

LEMON MARGARITA
Margaritas are wonderful to enjoy all year round BUT they’re especially delicious on a hot summer day, don’t you think? This lemon margarita is one of my favorites. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and tart – just delicious. (RECIPE)

TROPICAL PALOMA
Have you ever had a Paloma? They’re traditionally tequila based drinks with grapefruit soda. This one isn’t quite that simple but it’s really delicious. There’s even a thyme-orange simple syrup. (RECIPE)

CHIPOTLE MARINADE
This was my first Chrissy Teigen recipe I ever made and it is definitely one of my absolute favorites. It’s smoky, a little spicy and full of so much flavor. It’s really as easy as dumping everything in a blender. (RECIPE)
