Sometimes my worlds collide and it blows my mind. What I mean by that is, once in a while, the things I’m interested in (food, eating, learning, giving back) all come together for one fun event. Yes, it would seem as if I’m talking in circles so let’s get to the point. What I’m really talking about is an Eat Y’all dinner series coming to Chattanooga soon. Let me back up for a second.
Eat Y’all is a company that promotes the very best Southern grown and made products to both consumer and restaurant customers through events, digital media, direct outreach and advocacy efforts. Essentially, they connect chefs and discerning consumers to the South’s best farmers and makers. How cool is that?
And their mission? It’s simple: let’s eat, y’all. That’s a mission I can get behind. OK, so why am I talking about Eat Y’all? Part of their outreach includes events and I’m super-excited they’re hosting an event here in Chattanooga. A few weeks ago, it was announced that Eat Y’all would be hosting their CONNECT pop-up dinner series, right here in Chattanooga at Easy Bistro (see where my worlds are colliding)? Easy Bistro and their sister restaurant, Main Street Meats, are two of my favorite restaurants in town; you’ve probably heard be talk about these places incessantly here and on social media. To be honest, anything Chef Erik does, I think it’s safe to say, I’m probably going to love it.
This CONNECT series was created to spotlight their mission and bring the freshest grown and made ingredients to tables across the South and beyond. Not only will the dinner highlight a delicious multi-course meal, it’s also for a good cause. 5% of the ticket sales will be given to a nonprofit I’m pretty fond of: The Giving Kitchen. Yet another reason why my worlds have collided. Even though I don’t live in Atlanta anymore, the The Giving Kitchen is a nonprofit I’m familiar with and pretty fond of.
In a nutshell, The Giving Kitchen provides emergency assistance to restaurant workers in the Metro Atlanta area through a combination of support services and financial assistance. Essentially they serve those who serve us on a daily basis. It’s really pretty neat. If yummy food isn’t enough to convince you to come join me at this dinner, hopefully the give-back element will do it.
Let’s Eat Y’all
Alright, let’s get into the details.
The CONNECT dinner will take place on Sunday, April 29 starting at 5:30pm at Easy Bistro. Tickets are $95 per person and includes all food, drink and gratuity (purchase tickets here).
I’ve been to quite a few supper clubs and it’s obvious the food is always a draw but what’s often overlooked is the social aspect. I’ve met lots of cool people by attending food-infused events. I guess it’s true what they say, food really does bring folks together but you didn’t need me to tell you that.
See you Sunday!
