Who doesn’t love a good BBQ sauce? I know I do.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty of purchasing store-bought BBQ sauce on occasion. Actually, I’m not ashamed of that; there are several brands that I absolutely love. And who am I kidding, it’s so easy to just pick up a bottle of BBQ sauce from the grocer’s shelf. Even though purchasing a bottle of pre-made sauce is easy, I’m here to tell you that making your own barbecue sauce is just as easy.
Don’t let the name of this sauce fool you; it’s not difficult to make at all. Not too long ago, I received a copy of Wit & Vinegar’s cookbook, Whip it Up. Without even flipping through the book, I immediately noticed all of the vibrant colors. If you just look at Billy’s blog, you’ll see how colorful it is. It legit makes me excited to cook. So when I got a copy of Whip it Up, the recipes just scream TRY ME! I’ve tagged so many of the recipes. The first recipe I tried was this ginger Dijon BBQ sauce. I bake chicken a lot and I’m always looking for small ways to make it a bit more exciting.
Obviously you can use this sauce for more than just chicken but sometimes I’m boring and that’s what I used it for. The husband enjoyed it so we ‘re all happy over here. You could also try it on burgers or ribs if that’s what you’re into.
If you have the Whip it Up cookbook, you’ll find this recipe on page 47 and if you’re like me, you notice everything. You’ll notice that though the recipe has ginger in the title, there’s actually no ginger mentioned in the recipe. I think this was simply an oversight and I remedied it in my recipe. I thought I was loosing my mind when I first read it but nonetheless, it’s fixed.
Enough about the missing ginger in the original recipe, let’s make some BBQ sauce!
