As weekends come to an end, I try to enjoy and savor those last moments. I don’t always succeed at doing that and I immediately start thinking of all the things I’d like to accomplish in the upcoming week. This week is a particularly interesting week because it’s restaurant week. When I lived in Atlanta, this was a pretty big deal. There was something for each neighborhood and needless to say, we had our hands full (and stomachs).
Before I offer you my tips for restaurant week survival, a quick recap of the weekend. Friday night John and I attended a fun rooftop party organized by local nonprofit organization, Causeway. Saturday we went to a soccer game but I can admit, I didn’t watch any of the game and we lost. I’m thinking we lost because I wasn’t paying attention. Lastly, I spent most of my Sunday grocery shopping and cooking. I also made a really yummy and refreshing cocktail that I’ll share here soon. Overall, it was a crazy busy and scorching hot weekend.
Tips for surviving restaurant week
Chattanooga restaurant week is starting today, oddly enough, today is also the start of my birthday month. Anyway, if you’re planning on participating in this week-long food celebration, here are a few tips to get you through.
First things first, plan ahead. You have five days to eat, drink and frolic. Chattanooga Magazine has the full list of restaurants participating. Take a look, make a plan and start eating.
Try something new. Restaurant week is the perfect time to try a new place to dine. We often get caught on the hamster wheel circling around and eating at the same restaurants over and over again. I have my favorite restaurants that John and I love to visit on a weekly basis but this is the perfect time for us to try something new.
Restaurants are already busy and when you add food and drink specials during a heavily promoted week, they will become even busier. Throughout this entire week, remember to be patient. Be patient as you make reservations and deal with restaurant staff. Remember that this is a busy time and even though we’re all hungry and ready to eat, restaurant staff may be a bit overwhelmed with the influx of customers. Be nice.
I hope you’ll get out an dine somewhere you haven’t dined before. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite restaurant. Happy Monday!
