The Holiday Weekend

The last few days have been crazy busy but fun. Lots of food, laughter and friends around, which is always a nice thing. John and I spent our first Christmas together as a married couple and it was great. We cooked and entertained guests and even found time to have a Christmas “after party” the day after Christmas. We’re both pretty tired but in a good way. Luckily, I have a few more days off so I’m going to make the best of them.

I think our first Christmas was a success and I’m looking forward to future holidays where we can entertain. The weather has been a little weird but I sort of loved it (minus the rain of course). I know tons of people here wanted a cold Christmas – let’s face it, we weren’t going to see a white Christmas. But I’ve always been the weirdo who would enjoy a sunny slightly warm holiday. Anyway, I’m looking forward to taking the next few days to hopefully get back into the swing of things: menu planning, cooking a bit and planning how I’m going to take over the world in 2016.

Meet Elroy – John’s “Elf on Myself.” He’s very scary.

I got a couple of new cookbooks for Christmas (two cookbooks that I really wanted) – I can’t wait to try a few recipes from them. We decided to do something different by having donuts as one of our desserts for Christmas but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that well. If you follow me on Snapchat, you saw the whole thing and how it played out.

Christmas evening, a few of our friends came over for drinks and games – always a fun time.

Saturday, John and I went to brunch then we had a few folks over Saturday night too. Not a ton of photos from that night but as usual, there was some fun pics and videos on Snapchat.

Sunday, John and I conjured up enough energy to go to brunch (which was delicious). Overall, it was a perfect few days and I can’t wait to see what 2016 will bring. Hope you had a fantastic Christmas – let’s get ready for New Year’s Eve!
