Not too long ago, John and I decided to finally pay a *real* visit to a fairly new restaurant in the neighborhood, Universal Joint. I say ‘real visit’ because we’ve been several times but never to sit down and actually eat and/or notice our surroundings. We’ve stopped in for cocktails and met friends for drinks but that was the extent of our visits. I was super-excited when I got wind that Universal Joint was opening because of how close it is to my apartment. As someone who’s generally hungry most of the time, having a new restaurant open literally across the street from you is a dream come true. So off we walked to finally try it out…
Opened in an old gas station, one thing I loved about Universal Joint is the decor. By decor, I mean the usage of old gas station paraphernalia. This isn’t the first Universal Joint; there are other locations scattered throughout the South and if I’m not mistaken, most of their locations are in renovated gas stations. Pretty cool.
I decided to order the Southwest Chicken Quesadilla, which was pretty decent especially given the price. Even though the weather is beginning to cool down, one of my favorite things I enjoy about this location are the garage doors that open up and allow easy access to the patio. On a beautiful evening, it’s perfect…and did I mention most of their patio is covered? Even better.
