I promised you a better weekend and I think I accomplished that. Last weekend was a bit of a snooze fest. Between spending a bit of time in the kitchen, attending a going away party and getting some much-needed donuts, this weekend was pretty good. The weather has cooled down a bit and it’s not too bad. Some of you probably already know this but tonight is the TLC biopic on VH1 and I am so excited, I could scream. I used to be so obsessed with them in the 90’s; it was a little scary. A couple of weeks ago, John gave me a fantastic idea to do a series of posts entitled Menus & Music; food and music are two of my favorite things (fashion is squeezed in between).
So, very quickly my Menus & Music posts will consists of some cleverly named dish – based on an artist, group or an album’s name…whatever’s best. I’ll post the dish and the oh so clever name and I’ll even include one of my favorite songs from the artist. Obviously – I have to go with TLC to launch this series.
On the menu: Crazy, Sexy, Cooler
Ingredients for cocktail | makes one serving
1.5 oz Pineapple vodka (I used Skyy)
1.5 oz Cucumber+Rosemary simple syrup
Tonic water
cucumber & rosemary for garnish (optional)
Simple syrup ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 cup shredded cucumbers
Rosemary sprig
Combine water and sugar over high heat – continue until sugar is dissolved.
Bring to a boil then remove from heat.
Stir in cucumber and rosemary and allow to steep for at least 30 minutes – longer if you like.
Strain into a jar or container and refrigerate until you’re ready to use.
Cocktail instructions:
Add vodka and simple syrup to glass, add ice; top with tonic water. Garnish with rosemary and cucumber if you like.
*for a less sweetened version, try it with a non-flavored vodka OR 1.5 oz of pineapple vodka and only 1 oz of the simple syrup.
Inspired by the CrazySexyCool album, here’s one of my favorite songs off of that album:
Happy Monday!
