Weekend Thoughts: My Favorite Motivational Quotes

eat-drink-frolic-work-with-meI’ll never forget my senior year quote in the yearbook. It was an Eleanor Roosevelt quote that read something like: a woman is like a teabag; you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water. Even my 17 year-old self knew Mrs. Roosevelt was onto something. From then on, I’ve always been on high alert of moving, motivational quotes. I just love keeping record of inspirational, funny and truthful words of wisdom from [mostly] people I don’t know.

I go through different phases with my quotes. Some days ones that are professionally motivating really capture my attention while other times, ones about love or friendship may really speak to me. In my quote book, which I’ve had since I was about 17 and have periodically updated throughout the years, I can tell what type of mood I was in at the time I wrote down the quote. Today, I tend to lean on the side of professional motivational quotes, women empowerment and funny quotes. Regardless of the quote’s tone, they all have one thing in common: they inspire me.

Listening is one of the hardest parts of self-care. Your instincts and your body will always tell you what's right and wrong. It's up to us to listen.

This quote you saw in last week’s weekend post and it’s one that has been a huge part of my life lately. I’m trying to get better at not ignoring my instincts. Not to toot my own horn but they’ve never been wrong.

Motivational quotes have gotten me through lots of difficult and trying times. Today I'm sharing a couple of my favorites.

I’m not perfect but one thing is for sure, I do my best to not impose any silly judgements on people because of differences. This philosophy became more prevalent to me when I worked in an environment that seemed to enjoy pointing out the sins and downfalls of others but never their own. No thanks.

Some motivational quotes are funny, some are empowering. The quotes that empower me have a wide range of tones.

How many times do we forget our value and worth? I don’t know if it’s so much that we forget or that we ignore our value. It’s imperative that we stop ignoring and start being unapologetic about it. I’m starting to take that advice and it feels so good.

I hope this week brings you motivation and lots of inspiration. What motivational quotes are you moved by lately?
