Summer Rosé Spritzer

Even though Rick Ross is always yelling about rosé and almost making it seem so cliché to drink it, I actually really like it. I enjoyed sipping on it waaaaaay before he started rapping about it. Let’s talk about that for a minute. I find it almost unbelievable that such a big, somewhat “hardcore” dude like Rick Ross, would yell so confidently about a pink wine. What if he were rapping about white zinfandel – would that be OK? No, it wouldn’t be. But we let him get away with it because it’s rosé and it sounds pretty? I mean, he doesn’t even spell it correctly. Maybe that’s how he gets away with it? Because he spells it, “rozay”?  Anyway, this isn’t a post about Rick Ross excuse me, Ricky Rozay. So I’ll get off of my soapbox. This is supposed to be a post about a light summer rosé spritzer.

Summer is winding down (sad) but here in the South, it’s still pretty warm. Rosé is a refreshing wine that I love to drink on a warm summer day. Adding the word ‘spritzer’ to it makes it even more enjoyable and refreshing, don’t you think? I found this recipe in my favorite food magazine, Bon Appétit. It’s light, crisp and reminiscent of summer. Quite honestly, I feel like folks (including myself) only sip on rosé in the summer. Even though that’s probably when it’s most popular, you can still sip on it during the cooler months. So don’t be misguided by the title of this post. Drink it up even in the winter, people.

Summer Rosé Spritzer

This recipe calls for bitters and whatever you have on your bar will do. I used bitters I purchased in New Orleans because they remind me of summer. You don’t have to travel to New Orleans to get these bitters, though. You can purchase them on Amazon. If for some crazy reason, you’re unable to find sparkling rosé, just add a splash of club soda to the beverage for a little bubble sensation.

See, saying goodbye doesn’t have to be difficult when you have a rosé spritzer to sip.
