Non-Alcoholic Spritzer: Jalapeño honey pineapple

I drank a lot of spritzers over the summer. Sure, most of them had alcohol in them but some did not. There’s something really summery about sipping on a spritz, don’t you think? Even though I love an adult beverage, sometimes a non-alcoholic spritzer is just what the body needs.

As I write this post, I’m watching a documentary about Andre Leon Talley. Please tell you know who this is? Anyway, I found out recently that The Gospel According to Andre was on Hulu and I was thrilled. Andre is a fashion icon and once was the editor-at-large at Vogue magazine. I’ve always been intrigued by him and his story and I thought it was an appropriate documentary to watch as I write about a non-alcoholic spritzer.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not only write about adult beverages. I’ve featured quite a few non-alcoholic drinks (like this one or this one) and here I am with another one. I’m on a roll here, folks. Get excited.

Also where did that phrase come from?

Non-alcoholic spritzer (with jalapeño + honey)

Out of all of the tonics and non-alcoholic drinks I’ve made, this may be my absolute favorite. The recipe comes from Brewing Happiness (I love this blog). If you haven’t checked it out before, do yourself a favor and please go to her site and mill around for a bit. She features really delicious and relatively easy recipes but with a healthier twist.

Seriously, I love it. On top of that, her photos are beautiful. OK back to the drink.

This non-alcoholic spritzer is just so flavorful, I almost couldn’t handle it. It has a little heat from the jalapeño, sweetness and added flavor from the honey and pineapple but then there’s the apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has its own health benefits apparently and when added to this drink it amplifies the flavor of the pineapple and jalapeño.

The best part is the flavor base of the drink. The base is a jalapeño infused honey and if you make enough of it, you can use it in other cocktails or maybe even a tea. The jalapeño honey isn’t terribly spicy but it does leave you with a tease of the flavor – it’s just enough to pique your interest. I wish I could take credit for creating this recipe but unfortunately, I cannot. But lucky for you, you can head over to Brewing Happiness to get started on this drink.

Please tell me you’ll try this and when you do, let me know!
