I keep saying I’m going to work out. Then life happens and I don’t actually work out. There was a point in my life when I would be active then I paused but I was able to slowly get back into it. For some reason, at this point in my life, I’m having a really difficult time jumping back into the routine of working out. I think it’s for a few reasons. Yes, one of them probably being funfetti chocolate chip cookies but there are other factors that play into this as well.
I think one reason for my lack of enthusiasm to go to the gym is simple: motivation. I’ve gotten comfortable into a routine and it’s been really hard to get out. The other thing is accountability. John and I used to go to the gym together and it was awesome because we held each other accountable. We’ve gotten busy and honestly, lazy and there’s no accountability. That’s changing soon, though.
The other factor for my lack of gym motivation: feeling silly when I go. How many of you feel like you have no idea what you’re doing when you go to the gym? *raises hand* I need a plan for the gym – maybe I need a personal trainer? That sounds like a good idea.
Funfetti chocolate chip cookies + the gym
When I made these cookies, I ate waaaaay too many of them. I couldn’t help it – they were delicious. I don’t always have a sweet tooth but when I do, it appears with a vengeance and spawns my thought process of going to the gym. That’s right, funfetti chocolate chip cookies planted the seed of getting me back in the gym.
I saw these cookies on Waiting on Martha’s Instagram and probably screamed “YES!” when I saw them. So Mandy over on Waiting on Martha is really smart about these cookies. She takes the Nestle Toll House cookie recipe (you know, the one on the back of the bag) and simply elevates it a bit. I edited her recipe just a weeeee bit but not too much (see my adjustments below).
At any rate, these cookies are DELICIOUS. They’re even better when they’re warm and fresh out of the oven. Oh my goodness. I’m a sucker for chocolate chip cookies but these changed the game. So I guess I have funfetti chocolate chip cookies and Waiting on Martha to thank for getting me to start *thinking* about the gym. I’ll keep you posted on who I’ll have to thank for actually getting me to the gym.
