The Weekend + Food Blog South

It’s so funny how much the effect of Daylight Saving Time (yes, saving not savings) has on my sleep pattern; it’s only one hour for crying out loud! At any rate, the weather was beautiful on Friday so John and I got a chance to take a walk…a long walk.  Not what I was intending to do when I suggested we take a walk but I’m so glad we did.  It was much needed and even though it’s cooling down a bit, I’m looking forward to doing it again.

We went to a cold high school football game.  I think my days of watching football outside are done.  After the game, I was rewarded with a St. Tropez pastry, which was pretty tasty and light.  The brioche is soaked in Grand Marnier and it’s filled with a mousseline cream.  I ended the weekend by making a tomato and jalapeño jam – obviously I forgot to take a picture of the peppers, whoops!

Another weekend activity that I’m looking forward to participating in, in a couple of months is Food Blog South.

Cannot. Wait.  Food Blog South will be held in Birmingham, Alabama this January and will unite some of us southern bloggers with some well-known national bloggers/speakers that we’ve all read about.  As someone who lived in Atlanta for 7 years, I’m very familiar with Virginia Willis who’s scheduled to be at Food Blog South’s welcoming breakfast.  Love her!

I’m always looking for ways to improve my photos (both on my ‘real’ camera and my iphone) and one of the creative workshops being offered is…you guessed it, a photography and food styling workshop. Awesome. Thanks Food Blog South!

I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to attend all of these sessions at one time!  I need a twin.  Interested in attending?  Check out Food Blog South’s 2014 agenda for more information.

Happy Monday!
