Grapefruit Mojitos

Grapefruit mojitos.Summertime means enjoying refreshing drinks while hanging on a patio. I think the summer is the perfect time to experiment with different beverage flavors. I especially love experimenting with different types of herbs, fruits and spices. Lately, I’ve really been into grapefruit. I know a lot of folks who aren’t really into grapefruits but I love them. Even as a child, I remember eating them for breakfast. Some of the common complaints I hear about grapefruit is, of course, the fact that it’s ‘too citrusy’ but that’s silly to me. It’s a citrus fruit. That’s how I feel about people who say that fish is too fishy, well, it’s a fish. Am I crazy? Of course I’m not, which is why we’re making grapefruit mojitos today.

So, yes, I get it. Grapefruits are super tart but that’s part of its appeal to me. As you can see from the examples below, I’ve made quite a few grapefruit flavored drinks.

Broiled grapefruit

Grapefruit mojitosSee? I told you I loved grapefruit. I even included an updated version of a broiled grapefruit in my e-book. Grapefruit mimosas and so are grapefruit margaritas. Grapefruit is one of those fruits that’s really great with other herbs like basil, mint or sage.

Anyway, this drink is pretty perfect for the weekend or even a pre-dinner cocktail. John and I used to have Sunday cocktail hour and I’m starting to slowly incorporate back into our weekend ritual and this would be a fun drink to cheers to, don’t you think?

You could even do this with fresh oranges instead of grapefruit, if you like. I even feel like a raspberry version of this would be pretty yummy.
