Party Week: Themes

Full disclosure:  I love a good theme party.  I don’t think all parties should be themed but it sure does takes a lot of pressure off of the host when there’s a clear theme.  Adding a theme to your party is not only a fun idea but it allows you to get really creative and think of some themes that you’ve never done before. I’ve thrown a couple of theme parties (some of which I’ve shared below) and there are a few ideas that I’m including that I’m dying to try!  Here’s my list of some really fun party themes.

1.  New Orleans Theme

A couple of years ago I threw a New Orleans themed dinner party.  The photo (above) was one taken from the party – apologies for the quality of the photo, it was a crazy night and I had yet to purchase a ‘real’ camera. At any rate, New Orleans offers so many food and drink options and it’s really easy to play with all the different flavors, cuisine and drinks that New Orleans has to offer.  One of the dishes I served at my New Orleans dinner party was my version of a deconstructed crawfish boil which was served it in a shot glass. I also included instructions on how to eat crawfish – I definitely needed those.

2.  Burger Bar

How nice is this?  Sure you have to prep everything but the wonderful thing about this theme is that all your guests are responsible for assembling their food.  You provide the toppings and everything is taken care of.  Brilliant!

3.  Cupcakes & Champagne

I love the idea of having a cupcake topping bar and thanks to the ladies at A Beautiful Mess, I came across this photo and such a cute idea.  Of course if you add champagne, it takes it to another level and there’s that whole alliteration thing…

4.  Pizza & Prosecco

Another party I threw for my girlfriends that was pretty fun.  I should try to remember to take photos BEFORE we start sipping though – oh well. You provide dough, pizza toppings and prosecco and enjoy yourself along with your friends. So much fun!

5.  Beer Tasting Party

Now I have to admit, I’m definitely not a huge beer drinker.  Like at all. However, I love this idea.  Boyfriend and I went to a party earlier this year at our friends’ home in Huntsville and it was a beer tasting party. Ask your guests to bring beer start tasting!  The Glitter Guide also provides some printable tasting notes if you’d like to provide those at your beer tasting.
