I know I talk about Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook a lot here but another cookbook favorite of mine is Easy Gourmet. I mean, I love it. The title says it all. It really is easy gourmet recipes. The author is also the creator of the blog I am a food blog and it’s such a beautiful blog. She creates gorgeous photos and recipes that are easy to follow and really delicious to eat. A while ago, I pinned a recipe for mini cream cheese and green onion biscuits and spicy sausage gravy. It looked pretty, sounded good but I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to tackle the large task of making biscuits and gravy.
Here’s the deal: biscuits and gravy are a big deal (I think) in the south. I’ve never been a fan of biscuits and gravy because I have this thing with “white” foods. Long story and I’ve told it here many, many times. Anyway, biscuits and gravy always seemed a little too Southern for me; is that even a thing? Whatever the case was, biscuits and gravy wasn’t something I would ever order let alone make.
Once I read I am a food blog’s recipe for biscuits and gravy, I decided I would give it a try. I faced my fears to not only cook this dish I’ve been so afraid of for years but also eat it. It was delicious. While I’m on a kick of truth-telling, I’ll go ahead and let you know that I cheated a bit with this recipe. Stephanie (I am a food blog’s creator) made homemade biscuits and I did not. Call me lazy if you want. Whatever. At the time, I just wasn’t into making homemade biscuits at the time.
Notes from my time making this biscuits and gravy recipe:
I used canned biscuits and topped with with cheddar and green onions.
Substituted spicy turkey sausage instead of pork.
I overdid it on the sausage.

This is exactly how I have been making it and my husband and I love it. Caution… eating biscuits and gravy at restaurants will not taste as good anymore. 🙂
