Tarragon & Tequila

Jump to recipe

Have I mentioned I started watching Suits? Well, I did and I’m currently on season 4. There are so many seasons and if I’m correct, I think there’s a new season currently on as we speak. A few years ago, John and I tried to watch it and we just couldn’t get into it. Fast forward to now, I obviously like it since I’m into season 4. It’s a pretty easy show to watch especially if you’re sipping a refreshing tarragon + tequila cocktail. Honestly, any cocktail will go with Suits but today, it’s tequila.

Want to hear something funny?

John came into the room when I was watching Suits and said, “That girl looks like Meghan Markle.” Obviously that made me laugh because duh, it is her. It’s sort of weird watching her on this TV show knowing that (1) she’s clearly not on the show any more and (2) she’s a princess now. What a cool ending.

I wonder if she likes tequila. I know she likes wine and I know that not because Meghan and I are friends but she used to have a blog (The Tig). In said blog, she talked about her love of wine. I’d heard of The Tig but wasn’t an avid reader. If you scour the internet though, you can find an old archival site that has some of The Tig’s posts.

Cool story.
(no, it’s not)

Tarragon + tequila (a delicious beverage)

You’ve heard me preach here lots and lots of times about the level of ease of making your own simple syrup. Do you need me to remind you? Here are a few reasons why I strongly believe in making your own syrup instead of buying it:

  • It’s easy (duh, this is the most important reason)
  • You can get creative and make your own infused syrups (waaaay easier than it sounds)
  • You’ll get the satisfaction of seeing little jars or bottles of your own syrup in the fridge
  • You’ll have some on hand for your cocktails and teas
  • It’s less expensive than buying some from the store

Have I convinced you yet?

This simple syrup is simply (see what I did there) sugar, water and tarragon. You can easily find tarragon in the produce section of the grocery store. I don’t know a lot about it but I read that it’s in the sunflower family, which is pretty cool. I’ve since used this tarragon simple syrup in other cocktails that call for ‘regular’ simple syrup. You know, to jazz it up a bit. Anyway, this drink is delicious and if you like tequila, I think this is a really yummy way to enjoy it. Ready?
