Chocolate Soufflé

Chocolate souffle doesn't have to be something you order in a restaurant - you can easily recreate them at home. Here's how!

John and I got the ‘holy grail’ of wedding gifts…a Kitchen Aid mixer. I can’t wait to make things with it and buy random attachments for it. I didn’t break out the mixer for this little baking project but trust me, you’ll definitely see me using that beautiful appliance lots on the blog. Anyway, I got the urge to bake (which doesn’t happen too often) and the outcome was a gooey, chocolatey gift of a dessert. The outcome was a chocolate souffle and it was great. I’ve made souffles before but it was years ago and it was time to do it again.

This isn’t an original recipe (sad face); I found it on Pinterest via the Artful Desperado. This blog is awesome; beautiful photos and great recipes. I can be honest here, right? This is a safe place. Though the souffles were great, my Earl Grey cream didn’t exactly have the consistency that it was supposed to have; I have no idea what happened. Since I’m not hiding anything here, I included a picture of what my cream looked like. It definitely wasn’t the fluffy cream the Artful Desperado showcased.

Sigh. I tried.

I will say this: even though the consistency was completely off, the flavor was SO GOOD. I’m definitely making an Earl Grey infused cream for other kitchen adventures. It was so easy. I was actually surprised at how well the Earl Grey flavor went with the chocolate souffles. It was perfect even if it didn’t look like it. Oh well.

Chocolate souffle with earl grey cream is one of the most spectacular and faciest desserts I've made at home. So delicious.

Even though the earl grey cream was delicious, it didn't quite come out the way it was supposed to.

See.

The cream. It just didn’t do anything. It was just there. So sad. So pitiful. It didn’t look that great but wow did it taste good. The cream was as easy as heating some heavy cream and adding two bags of Earl Grey tea and a small piece of skin from a lemon. Let it steep, then let it cool in the fridge.

Chocolate souffle with powdered sugar on top is top notch.

Also, can we take a second to admire these gold spoons. They’re beautiful, right? Two of my friends got me an amazing set of gold flatware for my bridal shower. The gold flatware almost made me forget about my sad Earl Grey cream.

I made no changes to this recipe so find the original over at Artful Desperado. I think I’ll try this again…maybe with a lavender cream?
