The Weekend

I’m a mixture of tired, still beaming from the weekend, anxious for the week and still tired.  I spent part of the weekend in Birmingham, Alabama for Food Blog South, an awesome food blog conference where I got a chance to meet fellow bloggers – some of whom I’m already friends with on Twitter.  The first person I met when I arrived at the conference recognized my blog’s name and said we followed each other on Twitter; I love when that happens!  I must say, the highlight of the weekend was being able to take a photography and food styling class with the authors of Running with Tweezers and Tartelette; two bloggers/photographers that I admire so much.  I was also so pleased to hear the keynote speaker, Molly Wizenberg of Orangette. She was/is so delightful. If you’ve never visited any of these three ladies’ blogs, you should.

This was my first stay at the Aloft hotel and I had a fantastic experience.  The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly.  See if there are any Aloft hotels on your next travel destination; they’re a part of the Starwoods Hotel Group.

The afterparty for the conference was held at Good People Brewery and the best part was being able to taste High Road Craft’s ice cream sandwiches…made to order.  They were so good!

I was so inspired by what I learned at the photography workshop that once I returned home, I immediately went sifting through things at Goodwill to see if I could find any props.

Obviously, I became a fan of High Road’s product. After stopping at Goodwill, I made a beeline for Whole Foods and picked up the Bourbon Burnt Sugar.  Very delicious, can’t wait to make some type of ice cream sandwich with it.  Overall, it was a delightful weekend and I’m so glad I got a chance to meet some other bloggers.

Looking forward to a good week!

It was great meeting you at the after party! I went through several clearance sections at Target today looking for props. I ended up with one plate, one bowl and 4 napkins. What's funny is that I also went to Whole Foods looking for High Road ice cream, unfortunately they don't carry it at the North Miami store.
